Plugin diagnostics
Dependencies, conflicts, version compatibility and runtime errors.
Dependencies
A plugin's depend list must all be installed, or the plugin will not load. Tickhound also uses its curated compatibility database to catch dependencies a plugin forgot to declare.
Conflicts
Plugins that do the same job (two permission managers, WorldEdit and FastAsyncWorldEdit) should not run together. Keep one per job.
Version compatibility
A plugin's api-version and Tickhound's compatibility data are compared with your Minecraft version. Plugins that are too new will not load; very old ones may break.
Plugin tick time
A server tick has 50 ms. Everything that runs on the main thread, including plugins, has to fit in that time. Tickhound measures how many milliseconds of every tick each plugin uses, from the Plugins page (Measure plugins now). It needs the Tickhound plugin.
During a 60 second measurement the plugin looks about 25 times per second at what the main thread is doing and assigns that moment to the plugin whose code is running. Under 1.5 ms is fine, 1.5 ms and up is noticeable, 4 ms and up is high and 10 ms and up is too high. Nothing in your server or other plugins is changed, but each look is a very short pause, so the server can be a little slower while it measures.
Treat the numbers as estimates: they are very good for comparing plugins with each other, and can be off by some tens of percent in milliseconds. Measure during busy hours for the most useful numbers. Work that plugins do on their own threads is not part of the tick and is not included. Not available on Folia.
Load failures
Read the reason after “Caused by” in the log: missing dependency, wrong version or a corrupt jar are the usual causes.
Runtime errors
Repeated “Could not pass event …” lines mean a plugin crashed handling a game event. Update the plugin or report the stack trace to its author.
Duplicates
Two jars with the same plugin name make the server load only one. Delete the older jar.
Legacy plugins
Plugins without an api-version load in a slow compatibility mode and may break on newer versions.
Plugin status and risk
- Healthy — checked and no findings.
- Warning — a warning-level finding mentions it.
- Problem — an error or critical finding mentions it.
- Unknown — not enough data to judge.
